I like that image. Has anyone ever done a mer-person AU for Sutcliff? If not, it needs to happen. I know--it can be Outcast AU where Justinius is a merman and rescues Beric when he is tossed off the galley.

Or, more in keeping with Suctliff angst, Beric could have been a merman all along and when he's thrown in the sea, he reverts to that form, but of course, too late to save Jason.

I have never encountered a mer-person Sutcliff fic but I once made mer-person 'art' for The Eagle: Spirit Scouting: Esca, instead of being captured by Romans, drowned after the Brigantes battle and was transformed in the each-uisge (water-horse, or Celtic mer-person).

If that is indeed the only mer-person Sutcliff stuff out there, something must be done immediately, I cannot bear such a burden of responsibility! :D

That is a great idea! Beric discovers underwater life? Or Beric is carried to shore and pines for mysterious Justinius?

Maybe JASON was a merman all along and they later reunite? Beric is in a mer-person household with Justinius and Jason swims along? Eventual poly mer-person family?

Of course, once we get Channing in the Splash remake, then we can have Eagle time-travel mer-person AUs.

Beefy mer-person Marcus Aquila! I hope so. (I bemoan the fact that, since Fantastic Four was such a flop, no one did magically mutated into rock-solid-strongman Esca AUs. Maybe when Channing is finally Gambit there will be Marvel comics-ish Gambit/Thing AU/fusions with Eagle?)

Outcast could be improved with more cheer and happy mer-people!
